Hours: Lecture 1:30-2:20 MW, Room 240B Hernandez Hall (ECII, Civil Engineering Building)

Lab: 1:30-4:30 F. Due to the nature of the class and laboratory assignments, the lab schedule will be quite irregular. We are subject to the vagaries of weather, farmers, the irrigation district, etc. Lab meetings will be announced in class with as much lead time as possible, but we may have to react on very short notice and execute lab field work at any time.

Course Text:  None required. Class handouts and reserve materials will be used.

Course Objectives: The course is intended to teach the principles of irrigation and drainage so that students will have the understanding and analytical tools to handle highly diverse problems. Technical, environmental, economic, legal, and societal considerations all go into the solving of irrigation and drainage related problems, and we attempt to touch on all of them. The focus of the course is design, but several basic concepts and skills are necessary first.  Designs will include surface, sprinkler, and drip irrigation systems, as well as drainage design.
