Facilities - Civil Engineering Department

The Department enjoys excellent facilities for our academic and research programs. There are 21 laboratory areas, 15 special-use areas, 3 classrooms, and 34 faculty and staff offices. Of the 21 laboratories, 14 are primarily for undergraduate instruction. Undergraduate students are also frequently involved in research projects and benefit from the research areas.

The classrooms and design laboratories within EC-II (Hernandez Hall) are used for the instruction of most of the courses taught by the department. In general, these facilities are in excellent condition and provide an excellent atmosphere for instruction and learning. Two of the classrooms have multimedia capability and are eagerly sought for many classes. There is one TV classroom for remote instruction that is controlled by others and is only used for such instruction. The design laboratories are in good condition although the chairs need to be replaced.

The faculty offices are in excellent condition with adequate space and furnishings. Each faculty member has a desktop computer that is tied to the campus and department networks via a high speed network bandwidth (improved from 10 Mbit to 100 Mbit).
