Mo Baloch, P.E., is a Water Rights Engineer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs
(BIA), and he is the father of this training program. Since 1992, over 300 Native Americans
have completed the water
resources and surveying training. The Bureau of Indian Affairs is committed to
developing Tribal capacity through a rigorous
training, involving dozens of nationally and internationally
recognized experts from Tribal governments, academia, federal agencies,
and local governments to bring the highest quality of instructions. Graduates of the program are an increasing
national presence in Tribal natural resource management, thanks in large
part to the vision of Mo Baloch and the BIA Water Resources and Surveyor
Technician Training Programs.
Year 2000 Water Resources Training Program Mr. Baloch welcomed the students during the first day of the course. He explained the water resources program, other federal & non-federal agencies participating, the benefits of the short course, and the role of BIA to the students.
Mo also explained the code of conduct and the BIA's expectations. He encouraged
the students to take advantage of the university facilities and the knowledge the
instructors would provide.
